Textures And Lines

While the village sights charmed me, my artist's eye was drawn to the textures and lines.

Wonderful! That is a beautiful texture captured! Funny, I took photos of a line of canoes today but I didn't like how it turned out, I was glad to see the red canoe in your first photo! Very nice! (eh?) :)

  2. Better and better... looks like someone is having all kinds of fun with photos these days... am wondering if you always did so much photography, or is it kind of growing as the blog grows ???

And not a single raccoon shadow in sight...

  3. Driftwood: Surely!
(I like how your alliterative mind works).

Owen: I took photos when I was at art school way back when and went through the whole developing/printing process in the darkroom for one year's term. I guess that's where the habit of "snapping" started. But I do not, in any way, shape, or form, consider myself a photographer. I just like recording moments and sights...and it's a bonus to be able to share them.

  4. PS..Now that I think of it, I started taking pix (not making or capturing, downright taking of them) when my bf & I went halfers on buying a 35mm Konica. We took arty slides or b&w's of everything. After we broke up, & while I was art school, bf borrowed back the camera for a pal of his that was going to SA to bring back drugs and needed a camera to help him pose as a tourist! As bf was 1/2 owner of the camera, I of course felt obligated. Needless to say, I never saw the camera again.

  5. I love textures, and though all three are a delight, I'd say the second photo is my favorite... I want to run my fingers over it! Of course, being a ceramicist I'm a bit partial...

PS -- Couldn't help but notice your response comment about the camera and bf and posing as a tourist... got a real chuckle out of it, though I suppose I shouldn't have... after all, you lost your camera.

  6. Hey David, I'm glad you got a chuckle...It is funny, in retrospect. And someone offered me a 35mm Konica for free the other day--and I declined!

  7. Hi Lynne, your story about the camera reminds me of the Joni Mitchell song where she quips about a guy she was falling out of love with "but he kept my camera to sell"... Anyway, for a non-photographer you do some pretty darn interesting photos... so keep them coming...

  8. PS And if he kept your camera, I hope at least you got your fair share of the drugs that were procured by the posing tourist... no, just kidding, don't mean to imply that you would have at any time in any way shape or form have been interested in drug consumption... as for me, I tasted the smoke once, but didn't inhale... ;-D :-p
