Hi Lynne, it was not a very long quantum leap to get from your title here to Leonard Cohen's piece "The Future", which includes, as I imagine you recall :
Things are going to slide, slide in all directions Won't be nothing Nothing you can measure anymore The blizzard, the blizzard of the world has crossed the threshold and it has overturned the order of the soul When they said REPENT REPENT I wonder what they meant When they said REPENT REPENT I wonder what they meant
============================== The backgroud images on the wall here are unbelievably apt... major social commentary. What sort of society creates bag people? My goodness, I'd love to see what he has hoarded in that huge collection... or then again, maybe not.
Thanks, Owen, for reminding me about the Cohen song. I have rectified my sin of omission by adding a link to it. ----I, too, couldn't believe the perfect backdrop to this NYC prophet's stand. I'm afraid I was very surreptitious about capturing his image. I am guilty of not having wanted to make eye contact.-----Have you ever read Timothy Findlay's "Head Hunter"? It speaks of all sorts of marginality. I must admit, though, that I am unable to reread it. I need happy stories these days. An anecdote to the times, I suppose.
For years I've used this line when Mike comes in from shopping: Whatchya got in the bag Mister? I don't remember where I picked it up but this photo gives it new meaning.

PS...of course I meant to say "antidote" to the times...but I suppose an anecdote or two would also do nicely! ;}
