Winging something up

I had the great good fortune to get quite a few pictures of a splendid heron in the Halifax Public Gardens in October.

It was almost as if he was posing.

I caught him in many stances...in his heron trance...
and will share some more pictures of him here very soon.

Meanwhile, make like a heron
and please stand by...

  1. OK I'm standing by but don't be too long. I'm kinda shakey on one leg.

    1. I love herons, too! They have a special meaning for me as there was one standing on a rock on the beach where I went to find some solace on the day of my father's funeral several years ago. Whenever I see one, I try to get a picture, but am usually not as lucky as with this splendid specimen in the Halifax gardens. I guess he was more used to people.

    1. For me it was almost too good to be true, that fine feathered fellow just waiting to be snapped up by my camera! Yes, almost surreal...

  6. One of my favourite birds and subjects as you might have known by my header. ;) I read what you said about seeing the heron on the day of your father's funeral. I had a similar experiences with gulls on the day of my own dad's funeral.
