Scary Stuff for Hallowe'en?

Saturday morning had some strange sound effects wafting through the air. It sounded strangely like...

ABBA?

I grabbed my camera and dashed down to the little mall on the corner only to discover...
ABBA?

  2. Aside from appearing ridiculous, a bit long in the tooth, totally out of place, and just a wee bit pathetic, they weren't bad. The pumpkins did steal the show, though. At least the Abba-ites were doing what they love and earning some coin in doing so. I just hope they haven't quit their day jobs.

  3. Wow! You know, their music is big on Broadway in the still-running Mamma Mia! This seems an odd gig for them, though.

  4. Now call me doubting Owen, but was this really the ABBA, or just a facsimile local band dressed in white ???? Mamma Mia, the movie, was wonderful...

  5. Hi Margaret, I didn't go see Mama Mia! on Broadway when I was in NYC as I'd seen it in Toronto a few years ago. I did really enjoy the movie version...although I wish Pierce Brosnan didn't sing. Well, come to think of it, he didnt', really!

  6. Hello Doubting Owen. I dunno. They could have been the real deal. I mean, there's all sorts of has-been and nearly-were acts appearing at casinos these days. Maybe parking lots are the new hot venue for ghost bands and come backs. Do you want me to see if I can book you a gig at the Dollar Shopping Mall here? After all, if it was good enough for ABBA...! I think you'll have to provide your own fruit or vegetables to give away, though. Or maybe bring marshmallows in case the audience is moved to throw things.

As I remarked to Margaret, I did enjoy both the stage and movie versions of Mama Mia! Jeez, even my grandmother liked ABBA back in the day. And my mum still does. And really, the tunes just make you wanna groove...Too bad I threw out all my old platform boots.
