The Other Side

Let's catch up!  I've gone west (yes, again).  Have landed in North Vancouver.  Took myself on a walk today and was blown away by this view as I walked down the hill (along a wide sidewalk beside a busy thoroughfare, mind you).

Big mountains, lots of evergreen trees, low lying clouds...dampness.
Feels like home (my roots are showing).

The classic view in Deep Cove that I can never resist.

Views of extraordinary houses, expensive toys, affluence that I will never know.
But looking is free!

  1. Oooo - such lovely photos! It does seem to suit you here... Can just feel it... And you are a "looky-lou" too :) We don't live far from 4000 + sq.ft palatial mansions...

    1. Can't catch "Glimpses" to drag back here to the blog without engaging in some dedicated looky-louing! First time in awhile that I've even taken my camera along when venturing out. Definitely a good sign. Glad you like the scenery. There will be more!

  2. So sorry we weren't able to make it to Albert County before you left. May you enjoy Lotusland. I am looking out of the window at snow blowing sideways (60 kmh) with a predicted accumulation of 30 -40 cm. Wise choice, you!

    1. Yes, the low grey skies do provide the perfect backdrop for colourful subjects. And when they don't...well, god bless Photoshop!

  5. And I love to see the lamplight glimmering out from that lakeside house, makes it all look more cosy and wintry!

    1. Houses do look cozier and more welcoming glowing through the winter mists, don`t they. This is not a lake, though; it's an inlet...Burrard Inlet to be precise, coming in off the Pacific Ocean. Sea mist!

The waterside houses are beautiful, I hope the rich people are happy, that's what's important!

    1. It's always stunning to come "home" to the forested mountains after the more gentle slopes to be seen in eastern Canada. When I first moved east, I wondered what the hills in the distance were and was informed that they were the Laurentian Mountains. Didn't look like mountains to this west coaster! You can take the girl out of the west, but...

  7. Too bad yore missin a great early skidoo season back home. I was out breaking trail to the camp late this afternoon. The sun went down gold on iced over branches and the moon came up full silver. (first I hadda shovel a little bit and get well gassed up.)

    1. Hey man, you called it! Big winter, lotsa snow, hitting hard and hitting early. Glad I got out in the Saint Nick of time, in spite of the beautiful picture you painted in words here. You have a touch of the poet in your soul. Glad to hear you're all gassed up (that's what vegetarianism does for ya). Skidoo safe, buddy!

    1. Oh, you know me too well! What better refuge than a tall glass of something while sitting in a warm corner? As a matter of fact, there is a handy pub en route to the photo op. I hate to drink alone, though. Care to join me, Saj?

    1. "Affluenza"--ha! Love that expression (new to me). You most certainly have an embarrassment of riches in the looks-for-free department on the Riviera, Catherine. I'm pleased that you enjoy my more humble Canadian offerings here.
