Not Dreaming of a White Christmas!

What a difference a few days make.  From wispy foggy air kisses to the cold hard embrace of wet snow.

Lotus Land got blanketed with the solid white stuff today.

I cancelled my plans to ferry to Vancouver Island and contented myself with getting a few photos from my mother's balcony...

...especially when the "snow plough" was out. Figured my friends back east would get a laugh out of this dinky toy they use to plough the driveway here.

But what really made me giggle was seeing people out walking in the falling snow with their umbrellas up!  This was one of the first lessons I learned when I moved to eastern Canada many decades ago--one simply does not carry an umbrella when it snows.

Just so you's'know.

(Snow has already turned to rain tonight,
so don't snicker too hard, dear friends out east!)

  1. Sorry to hear your snow left so soon. We have some extra to share if you wish.

    1. Two days later we still have some vestiges left. That'll do just fine, but thanks for your generous offer, anyway.

  2. Looks pretty slushy! And funny about the umbrella. Yes, totally wrong approach to snow...

    1. In some ways, though, an umbrella does make sense, but it would get awfully heavy pretty quick. Now that would be a sight: A snow-domed umbrella being lugged along!

  3. There's far more than enough to share with you out here, if you like. I had to giggle at the umbrella though. I can't say I've ever seen someone use one for snow before. But when you think about it, why not? :)

    1. I've heard about the blast of winter nastiness the east has been hammered with! I'm very grateful to be out here in the foggy dampness of Lotus Land, where the snow is but a memory at this point. Looks like a green Christmas, which is fine with me.
The only thing about carrying an umbrella in the snow is that it would likely get awfully heavy.

  4. Lynne, I'd really love some snow for Christmas - just not too much of it!
Wishing you a merry christmas and fabulous new year!

    1. Well, Ruby, it seems that Hilary has plenty of extra snow that she's willing to share (see comment just prior to yours) if you'd like to get in touch with her! As for me, I'll be enjoying a green Christmas (for a change) and loving it. To each her own, but I wish you a very merry one!

  5. that's ironic, because it is a snow-less christmas for me, so no snow photos for a while :-)

i wish you a wonderful christmas and a lot of joy and creative ideas in the year to come!

    1. Thank you, Roxana! Our snow is all melted away now and none predicted for the foreseeable future (which isn't all that farsighted, really). Those who really need a fix of snow around here can go up to the local ski slopes...but that wouldn't be me. I'm more than happy to "go green" for Christmas!

And I wish you, Roxana, a joyous Christmas, in spite of the lack of snow, and a most inspirational year ahead!!
