We interrupt this program...

At last, the glider swing is up!  Refurbished, renovated, rejuvenated, revived, revitalized, revamped.  Pierre has been sweating long hard laborious hours to get the glider up and swingworthy for the visit of our daughter this weekend.  Today it was ready to reassemble and we helped him heave it into place.

Let the G & T's begin!

Wish you were here!

  3. Sorry I'm late, where did you put that pitcher of Gin?? What a lovely relaxed photo, did the long suffering Pierre take it as well as make the swing? Did you let him have a swig of Tonic?

  4. Hi Roxana,
Yes, it's me and my daughter enjoying the freshly hung swing...as well as the traditional inaugural gin and tonic. It was very hot today, thus my slightly wilted look (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!). I'll have to post a proper picture of the swing at some point, but wanted to celebrate our daughter's short, but cherished, visit with a quick post. Lovely that you stopped by to join us.

  5. Hi Robert,
Yes, these rare moments do provide an immeasurable joy, you are absolutely right. Treasured times, as those that you spend with your little boy. She flies away tomorrow morning so the time is short but sweet. Saying goodbye perhaps not the best way to start the week, but after doing it so many times, are starting to get a bit used to it. Happy week to you!

  6. Saj,
You really have to be quick if you want to get in on the G&T around here. Would beer or wine suffice? We had some lovely white NZ wine the other night: Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. I thought of you. And yes, it was the long suffering Pierre who took the photo but twas I what tinkered with it. Sorry 'bout the gin rations but we're on a bit of a tight budget. I think Pierre will have to start working on building a still now that he's finally finished with the swing.

  7. Oh wilted one, if we bring an extra supply of gin & tonics are we welcome ? Are those lips still pursed a bit ? At least one of you is clearly smiling, albeit a mischievous smile. Although the other may almost have a smile about to break through. Or else she's trying to pretend she isn't smiling after seeing what was going on in the Saj's kitchen ! Shocking going's on at that !
    :-)

If the weekend isn't quite over yet, here's to health, happiness, and hoopla, not necessarily in that order.

And then in the morning I guess it's a case of :

  8. Well hung Pierre! And such sultry ladies. Perhaps the gin was keeping the mosquitoes away? The silken skin of said sultry ones must have been tempting for them.

  10. BrOwen,
I think you meant to write it thusly: "O Wilted One", which would be a good title for an ode to your old sister, if not a suitable form of address. I am not a big grinner. You need to know that about me. And my lips are still zipped on certain subjects (as evidenced in the photo). Though I have quite obviously unbuttoned my cardigan (also as evidenced in the photo).

That "leaving on a jet plane" song has played in my head so many times at so many leave-takings over so many years, but that is a fine version by Canada's own Chantal that you provided. Sad goodbyes. They always are, it seems.

And, yes, definitely, arriving with a goodly supply (not to say a godly one)of gin and tonic absolutely guarantees an invitation to our swinging party. Just don't spill as you clamber on board.
    :-)

  11. Carmenooch,
As you will note in the comment just below your first one, your congratulatory note to Pierre has caused the Sagittarian to choke on her Sauvignon Blanc. And if by "sultry" you mean "sweaty" then you've captured the essence of the moment. As for the skeeters, C. did get a few good chomps taken out of her tender young flesh, but mostly it was too hot even for the mosquitoes to engage in their blood-thirsty ways. I do like your theory about gin being a good bug repellent! The trick is to drink enough so that it actually seeps through ones pores, thereby adding to the sultry silkiness of ones skin.

  12. Saj!
I was just going to leave that particular comment hanging, but seeing as you brought it up...

  13. Carmenooch,
Our swing is the next best thing to Fantasy Island! (depending on the supply of gin on hand). And it doesn't cost $50,000 to participate.
