Kitchen Window Sunrise

Not a sight I often see! (from any window)

  1. How beautiful! Did it rain later?

  2. Did it rain?!! What passes for normal precipitation in N.Van. would be classified as a heavy rainfall warning back in my village on the other coast.

I remember thinking to myself, "Red sky at morning, sailors take warning." But then I thought, if it's a sunrise, wouldn't the sky be necessarily red? Shows how much I know about sunrises.

  4. omg! That photo is so beautiful! I want to steal it and put it on my blog! (kidding!) You should paint it, watercolor maybe. So unusual how the water reflected the sky's pink, and the earth-form curves from mountains to yellow sunset to pink and blue give it texture. Actually, it is on my blog! in the little box under "Blogs I Follow," saying Decollete Glimpses, Kitchen Window Sunrise. So don['t change it any time soon! (kidding again!) But I really do love this image, Lynne. LOVE xxox

  5. Are you sure you weren't dreaming that ??? Looks more like a hallucination... So, you've got water to the east of you ? Yet you're not on Vancouver Island... hmmm, am heading for Google Maps to try and figure out the geography, but guess there's no shortage of water passages out that way. And to think people came down that coast from Alaska 15 or 20 thousand years ago... gives me the shivers... and look where we've come to now ...

  7. Anya, I'm happy to have given you a glimpse of something new! It was pretty spectacular. I was glad to be up early for once.

  8. Margaret, I will hold off putting up any new postings just so you can keep this image a while longer. I took several shots of it, but I liked how this was framed by the kitchen window with the cacti on the windowsill.

Why don't you do a watercolour of it? You can use the image for your own interpretation!

  9. Hey Owen,
I'm not big on direction...I was away the day they taught north, south, east, west at school. But the sun does usually rise in the east, I believe.

If you look on a map, you should look for Burrard Inlet...Indian Arm is an offshoot of that...heading towards Deep Cove. Actually, this area I'm in is called Dollarton. Aptly, it would seem as the houses have hefty price tags these days.

Speaking of Google, Pierre looked up my mother's address on MapQuest (he loves maps) and got a very up close and personal photo of her house! Rather creepy.

  12. Yes, isn't Robert's writing lovely, Owen?! Nice that you can share his sentiment. (I didn't fudge the colours of the sunrise, they were really that hallucinatory.)
