If You Can Make It There

Let's jump on the magic subway and visit some of my NYC memories...

*

*

I remember so well the Chelsea Hotel...

*

*

...the bus stop signs...

*

*

...and fire escapes reminiscent of the Moon River scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's

*
*
*
*

...and giant posters on the sides of apartment buildings...
*
*
*
*

...and the American Eagle, the Stars and Stripes, the big yellow taxis...

*

*

...and famous faces up in lights!

(Go here to get your 5 minutes of fame)

  1. Now I'm really wondering what was in those sugar cubes you were handing out !

  2. I assure you those sugar cubes I was handing out passed the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test of Pure Sweetness with flying colours!

Speaking of trips, Owen, I was flabbergasted to learn that you married the Mad Lady of Shallot! I guess Tennyson got the story wrong.

  7. Oh how exciting, I'm going to get me some FAME!
I would have to scan in my pix from NYC, taken about 17 years ago but there might be some fun stuff there...

  8. Bring it on, Saj! The champers is chilling in anticipation of drinking a toast to your soon-to-be found FAME! (Perhaps I'll just get a little head start here...)

  10. What a great post. I love the hotel photo and the others, too. I could spend way too much time here and not get anything done. I'm such a sloth.

  11. Hi Lynne

you are a dag...that's a term of endearment, for someone slightly wacky...but ever so nicely so...

    Happy days

  12. Hey Karen, You can hang out here as much as you want. I must admit that I spend far too much time lurking about OPB's (Other People's Blogs)myself.

  13. Hi Delwyn, Thanks? Always nice to be treated to a term of endearment. In "real" life I'm very quiet but the wackiness comes through in this virtual realm...and probably in my art. I must admit, sometimes my sense of humour gets me into a wee bit of trouble. Nice when it's appreciated.

  14. Boy, are you havng fun with Photo Shop! :) These are hilarious! and truly seamless--no one could ever tell! I've got a new scanner but am waiting for that techno help that's slow in coming! Don't you miss New York? Listen to this: Georgia O'Keeffe at the Whitney in September and also in Sept Kandinsky at the Guggenheim. Sigh... I am going to a Leonard Cohen concert at Madison Square Garden in October, though... Song Saturday! xxox

  15. OMG Margaret!!! A plethora of goodies. I've never even seen one O'Keefe up close, live and in-person. And I went to the Guggenheim expecting it to be packed with Kandinskys and I saw one! I was sooo disappointed. There was a big exhibit on of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Also, tried to get tickets to a Leonard show but it was sold out. (if you click the "Chelsea Hotel" highlighted text in this post, you will be whisked off to a vintage Cohen interview + song, btw). Other than those small glitches, I loved my visit to New York. Wish I could go again.

I didn't have to Photoshop those posters. Just follow the link I provided and you, too, can plaster your picture onto all sorts of crazy photographic situations.

But, yes, I do keep myself amused in Photoshop.

    Hugs to you!

  17. I just felt like shutting up shop here for a bit because...well, things are really just too dull to blog about right now so I'd rather hang out in my studio. I know it was rude of me to just slam the door, so I put a sign up now. Sorry if I pissed you off by removing the comments box for that post. I figured if anyone really had something to say to me, they'd figure out how to find me. Well done, Saj!

  18. I know the door is closed at the moment.
We're looking forward to hearing from you shorty when time has come!
    Take care
