Peek into places close to my heart
I'm in love with your apples in the snow, Lynne. Did you throw them into the snow? Did they fall off a tree???? I'm dying to know. What a gorgeous light in all the pictures.
Jann,It was such a treat to see and feel some sunshine yesterday, lighting up the scene and lifting my spirit. Those apples were just glowing out there. They'd been collected from an old apple tree out in our forest with the intention of making applesauce, pies, etc. It gradually became apparent that they were going to go from bad to worse before being processed so got tossed out onto the snow for the deer's delectation. So far, though, they've not shown any interest in them. I guess they're waiting for the "salad bar" (ie.garden) to come back.
Amen to that! I'm imagining the sound of apples dropping in the snow...
Stickup,Oh, I like that concept--the sound of an apple falling in the snow. A combination of one hand clapping and a tree falling in the forest? I love seeing apples clinging to bare branches in winter,as if frozen in the tree's memory of summer. Talismans.
I just snow those apples will freeze while you're reading in the sun, perhaps the birds there like applesicles , I'm down south collecting photos for next weeks blog,,,,,M
Michael,Lucky you, staying warm in the south and seeking new blogging inspiration! "Applesicles"--maybe I should try marketing that as a health food dessert? Should get a dental group as a sponsor, though. Not many birds around these days, and even the deer aren't coming round. Must still be good pickings in the forest for them.
Ahhhh - so peaceful - just Being...
MM,Oh, it does feel good when one can sit peacefully with the moment. Been struggling a lot lately so this was a most welcome respite.
Yes, am familiar with "struggling" lately myself, and your post and lovely photos was a nice repose and reminder to just be aware in the moment... Thanks :)
I like them apples.
C,Your comment reminds me of that game show where the answer is provided and the contestants have to come up with the question.C, What is "How do you like them..."Your humour delights me, as does your visit.:-)
I like Michael's applesicles idea.. or for those of us born and raised in la belle province... pommecicles. All three are beautiful images, Louciou. The whimsy of the apples, the cozy sunshine on your chair and that lovely sky. Thanks for these.
Hilary,Pommecicles! Ça peut marcher! The Quebec version of the taffy apple.
Lovely first image, beauty and food for wildlife! I'd love to have more snow here, just not too much.I do think a few months the novelty would wear off a bit.Stay cosy!Ruby
Meant to say....after a few months.
Ruby,Certainly the best of intentions for feeding the wildlife and pure accidental beauty all in one go. The wildlife, however, are clearly not impressed so it`s just as well that we humans can appreciate the spread.I am here to attest that the novelty of snow could well wear off long before a few months of it! Though, it is always fascinating to watch a heavy snowfall or big storm. And the world is lovely to behold once the storm is over and the sun is beaming on the newly whitened world.
How delightful that first shot is - what a stunning combination...
Catherine,Isn't it surprising? And there it was, all laid out for me,like a visual feast.
Oh, how I love these shots! I can imagine myself sitting in the lovely chair, soaking up the sun's rays! Spring, I am so ready for you to arrive! :)
Bella,That was a wonderful moment for me that I truly savoured, especially knowing that spring is another 3 months away from here! I'm glad you stopped by to share the moment with me.
What a dream picture the first one is !So far no snow over here. Please have a good Wednesday.
Robert,Yes, really who would imagine golden apples in the snow? Looks like the stuff of a fairy tale beginning...I hope your week is a golden one!
How beautiful "listen to the snow melt' - love that line! I wonder if I can hear the sun shine down here? xx
Saj,If you close your eyes and sit very still in the sun and stop the ice cubes tinkling in your G&T you just might be able to hear the sun singing! Or would that be you humming in contentment? Either way, it's something wonderful to be attuned to.
PS I can certainly here the cork popping or the clink of ice in a glass....
I'll drink to that! Cheers!!!
Love the apples in the snow!! I could just feel the sun from the shot of the chair...comfy place to read...curious...what book are you reading??
Danielle,Aren't those apples a rare treat? The deer obviously don't think so so it's just as well we humans appreciate their worth. That little sheltered corner at the back entrance to the house (the only one ever used) is a wonderful haven, capturing the rare warmth of an afternoon winter sun.I'm reading a novel, "Above All Things" by Tanis Rideout (a Canadian author). It tells of George Mallory and his third attempt to conquer Everest, but also describes his wife Ruth's experience, waiting at home with their three small children. It's very well written and I'm really enjoying it.
Beautiful snow, apples, and capture!
Janie Girl,How very kind of you to say so! Thanks for stopping by. Lovely to make your acquaintance.
wonderful post!!! i pondered whether you had thrown the apples yourself, just for the picture, but somehow this didn't seem like the kind of thing you would do, but i couldn't imagine any other way for those apples to get there, but reading the comments the mystery was solved :-)and a secret: i had long wanted to make a little video including apples in the snow, two years ago, i think, i shot some scenes (in my case, it was on purpose :-), but i never got around editing - it looks like i really must go back to that idea, the coincidence is too big, i will take it as a sign :-)
Roxana,Definitely a sign! A golden sign, shooting down from above, as if apples were falling on your head like thunderbolts to spark you into action!
